You Can Still Support Our Back To School Program

The 2020 Chick-fil-A® Knoxville & Mission of Hope Golf Classic supports one of our biggest programs: Back To School. With the help of volunteers, church and corporate delivery teams, and supporters like you, we plan to supply 11,500 students in 28 schools with backpacks, school supplies, and hygiene items at the beginning of the 2020 school year.

Please help us Extend The HOPE to these students!

A message from

Emmette Thompson, Executive Director:

Unprecedented…Health Crisis…New Normal.

These words have become so familiar and commonplace in our world, yet just a few months ago…we could not have imagined the situation they describe. Throughout this crisis the goal at the Mission of Hope has been to continue to Serve those in need in Rural Appalachia while following the guidance given by Government Authorities, and to play our part in protecting the health of those we Serve, our Partners, our Volunteers and our dedicated Mission of Hope Staff.

The Chick-fil-A & Mission of Hope Golf Classic has enjoyed 16 years of fun and fellowship in support of our Back To School Program. We are so grateful for the Sponsors, Golfers, and Volunteers who made each event a great success.  I realize the tradition and meaning of this wonderful outreach and fundraising event for the MOH, but I also feel without hesitation we have to be good stewards and make wise and sometimes tough decisions. With the unknown trajectory of the Coronavirus, we must be realistic about challenges associated with protecting a large gathering of people like we would have at the Golf Classic.

After much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to cancel the 2020 Golf Classic which was scheduled for Friday, August 14 at Willow Creek Golf Club. Our plan will be to resume our wonderful Golf Classic tradition in 2021. I humbly appeal for your understanding and support of this decision. Read more…
