What if a scholarship was about more than grades?
In the latest episode of Stories of Hope, Doris Moreland shares how Mission of Hope’s scholarship program focuses on something deeper — students’ stories, needs, faith, and mentorship.
As a longtime member of the scholarship committee, Doris has seen firsthand how lives can be transformed when students are given encouragement, opportunity, and someone who believes in them. Many of the students served through Mission of Hope are the first in their families to attend college and often come from rural communities where higher education can feel out of reach.
In this episode, Doris discusses how the scholarship selection process goes beyond academic achievement to look at financial need, personal drive, and each student’s unique story. She also shares how Mission of Hope supports scholars beyond tuition assistance by providing mentorship, encouragement, computers, gas cards, and ongoing support throughout their college journey.
Most importantly, the conversation highlights the role faith plays in the program and the importance of reminding students they are valued, loved, and capable of achieving their dreams.
This episode is an encouraging reminder that when people invest in students through prayer, mentorship, and support, hope becomes reality.
