Greetings, Dear Mission Of Hope Friends;

We have been privileged to be partnered with our dear friends at Remote Area Medical (RAM), for the past few years. You may have seen a story about RAM, on CBS 60 Minutes a few months ago. And they were also featured on Dateline NBC, last Sunday night (January 9th). After going on one of their Health Clinics weekends; I realized that what we were doing in our Healthcare Ministry was minimal at best although very well intended. What we really needed to do was help someone who had the proper Healthcare Equipment and Healthcare Supplies; but needed Healthcare Professionals and Healthcare Volunteers. We have been able to provide very dedicated Mission Of Hope Friends with the opportunity to go and be a blessing and perhaps even more so, get a truly special blessing; by serving and addressing the horrific healthcare needs we see throughout the rural Appalachian Communities we are assisting. We have also been able to donate two brand new Dental Chairs & Accompanying Equipment, along with thousands of Hygiene Items to distribute at their Health Clinics.

The first RAM Health Clinic of 2011; will be held on Saturday, January 22nd & Sunday, January 23rd; in Scott County, TN. Our dear MOH Friends, Terrie Cross and her fellow Appalachian Life Quality Initiative (ALQI) Staff; are helping host this event; which will be held at the Scott County Boys & Girls Club; in Oneida, TN; which is located at 17025 Alberta Street (HWY 27) Oneida, TN 37841.

I am thrilled to share with you, that Dr. Karen Goss will be leading a MOH Vounteer Team of 25 Students from South College; here in Knoxville, TN. Emmette Thompson will be going to lead Volunteers pack Hygiene Bags for those patients attending the Health Clinic.

All Services provided at this Health Clinic will be FREE. They are as follows:
-Dental Fillings & Extractions & Cleanings
-Denture Repair & Relining
-Vision Checks & Eyeglasses Made There
-Medical Exams and Flu shots
-Mammograms

They have had a very good Healthcare Professional\’s response; but still may need Dental Assistants. They also still need general Volunteers to assist in a variety of ways. If you are interested in Volunteering for this much needed event; please call Terrie Cross at ALQI (423-569-2677) as soon as possible; for additional information and details on how to sign up and lodging accomodations. You may also call Lilly Stein at: 423-286-2502; or e-mail her at: [email protected].
