As another school year approaches, thousands of children across rural Appalachia are preparing to head back to the classroom. While many students are excited to see friends and meet new teachers, others face the first day of school without the basic supplies they need to succeed.
That’s why Mission of Hope is inviting our community to come together once again for Mission Pack the Bus, our annual school supply drive during Tennessee’s Tax-Free Weekend.
From July 31–August 2, you can help make a difference by bringing new school supplies to the Mission of Hope school bus parked outside OfficeMax, 11012 Parkside Drive in Turkey Creek, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.
Every backpack, notebook, box of crayons, and package of pencils represents more than just a school supply. It tells a child, “You matter. Someone believes in you.”
The supplies collected during Mission Pack the Bus will help nearly 10,000 students attending the 29 schools served by Mission of Hope across Southeast Kentucky and Northeast Tennessee. These donations ensure students can begin the school year prepared to learn and with the confidence that comes from having the tools they need.
