We are so grateful for everyone who joined us Thursday for our 23rd Annual Chick-fil-A Knoxville & Mission of Hope Golf Classic at Willow Creek Golf Club!

Our golfers, sponsors, volunteers and friends helped make it a special day, and we are thankful for each person who came out to support the Mission of Hope and the children and families we are blessed to serve throughout rural Appalachia.

Of course, we love a good day of golf, but this tournament has always been about something more.

The support we receive through the Golf Classic helps Mission of Hope continue serving children and families throughout rural Appalachia all year long.

One of Our Favorite Moments

One of the most meaningful parts of this year’s Golf Classic was hearing from Connor Blevins, one of our Mission of Hope College Scholars.

Connor shared part of his story—where he came from, the opportunities education has given him and the difference that encouragement and generosity from others have made along the way.

We have had the privilege of hearing Connor use his story to encourage others before, and we were grateful for our Golf Classic friends to have that same opportunity Thursday.

Connor spoke about something that fits so closely with the heart of Mission of Hope: when someone invests in your life, that investment doesn’t have to stop with you. You have the opportunity to turn around and encourage someone else.

As Connor later shared, “When people invest in people, the impact can extend far beyond a single moment.”

We see that over and over again through this ministry.

A donor gives. A volunteer serves. A mentor encourages. A business becomes a partner. And together, those individual acts of kindness allow us to continue showing children and families throughout Appalachia that they are cared for and not forgotten.

That’s why days like the Golf Classic matter.

Far Beyond the Golf Course

Thursday was about golf, but the reason behind it continues long after the last cart is returned.

Support from the Golf Classic becomes part of everything we do throughout the year—from putting backpacks and school supplies into the hands of students to providing Christmas assistance, food and other resources to families.

It also helps us invest in students like Connor through our College Scholarship Program, encouraging them as they pursue their education and prepare for what comes next.

That’s why this day means so much to us.
